Spring Trend Report
WOW, has Spring finally arrived? This Friday sunshine is making me feel very uplifted and inspired to blog about the Spring Wardrobe updates I have spotted this week. Once the sun emerges and the days get longer, it is definitely time to think about packing away those Winter knits and having a little seasonal style shift.
Ooh La La
Some key trends to emerge this season are coloured lace, satin slip dresses, ruffles, fishnet tights, sequins and Bardot tops. That line-up sounds like a dream dressing up box, a seductive melange of sexiness, drama, a touch of Paris and um Miss Haversham from Annie. Bring.it.on. Perhaps not for you if you prefer a more classic approach to dressing but if you are flirty and feminine then these trends are to be embraced.
This trend is supposed to be sensual rather than overtly sexy. Wearing a slip dress with a tailored black blazer and heels makes it perfect for Dinner, wearing an oversized jumper and trainers with tights makes it daytime appropriate. Carine Roitfeld ex editor of French Vogue has designed some 100% silk slip dresses at only £69.99 for Uniglo; I like the edgy camo print version:
Ruffle Those Feathers
Ruffled shirts have been popping up on street style scene setters for a few months now. You can either go for ruffled shirting, a twist on the classic shirt or go all out feminine with a chiffon ruffled blouse. American brand Storets have a great selection of ruffled blouses and ship to the UK fast and free. The blue shirt below is by Storets and the floaty chiffon blouse is from Avenue 32 by Alice McCall.
Coloured lace is something popping up on the Highstreet. I have so much lace in my wardrobe but there’s always room for more. This dress from Zara would be great for a Wedding or paired with a tough leather biker jacket to wear for evenings out.
Bardot style tops are EVERYWHERE. This smart crisp striped version from Whistles will look great with any kind of jean, distressed, smart blue or black with a pair of chunky heels and statement earrings to finish. Whistles did have a pure white version of this (which I preferred I have to say) but it sold out almost immediately.
And to finish… Bedroom style shoes like the fluffy heels by Topshop are another trend and were worn with every outfit on the Topshop Unique catwalk. Fun and definitely flirty.
