Mirror Effect Boots, Velvet and Stars
Here I am back at my desk for a day to catch-up on admin and what trends are coming up for Autumn. Summer is in full swing of course but I am almost fully booked already with clients who in general, hate shopping and want their wardrobe sorted out for them without navigating the shops and the vast choice themselves. This means I am already putting my thoughts forward to Autumn and what’s new and exciting in the shops. Three trends I have spotted so far are, Velvet, which is probably the biggest trend for the season, seen in coats, bags dresses and shoes. Star prints are another and will be everywhere as will mirror effect boots – a step-up from metallics.
Star Prints and this Scotch and Soda Sweatshirt.
I am wearing this lovely sweatshirt as I type. I got mine from my favourite boutique Anthology in Wandsworth and already have worn it numerous times. I do love a glamorous basic, practical and stylish:
2. Ganni Velvet dress from Net a Porter. The muted hue, the soft draping velvet and sexy cut, this dress is utterly gorgeous! As I mentioned, Velvet is a massive trend for AW16. This 90’s inspired dress would look fantastic with biker boots and a silk and lace slip underneath to stop your boobs falling out 🙂 – it is very very low cut and has splits up the side. They have sexed it up because velvet can easily look frumpy. The ankle boots below (in silver) would look incredible with this and I would wear it with high-tops ‘cos I can’t ever find a reason not to wear a glamorous dress with trainers.
3. Balenciaga over the knee ‘All Time Mirror Effect’ boots from My Theresa. WOW, and PHWOR!!! These are THE boots of the season, are almost sold out everywhere and cost about a million pounds, (they actually cost £455 and the long ones £1,000 but you get the picture). If you don’t want to look frumpy these are the boots for you! If you like to turn heads and move in the right circles GET THESE BOOTS. If you are like me and a 40 something Mum who frequents the local pub then maybe don’t get them as you would look ridiculous but get a copy of the ankle version instead from a Highstreet shop and wear with battered jeans. Part of me would love to turn up on the school run all Elle McPherson in a pair of these but in reality, I’ll be scouring the shops to find an appropriate version and will report back!
So what is catching your eye so far? More trends to follow in the next blog but my Summer holiday to Sussex awaits so it’s beach wear for me until I can track down some pointy mirrored boots…
