Rid me of the January gloom!!!
Please, I can’t take this cold snap a second more. I am actually sitting in my home office wearing gloves and a woolly hat because the back of my house is off (see photo from my instagram feed below) and it’s blooming FREEZING in London. January is almost at an end and whilst I am not interested in bright colours that will soon invade the shops now or ever (not my ting), I am starting to think about a few little wardrobe updates. This week’s favourite being the cord belted dress below from Whistles. It’s unusual and cute and would look really great layered over the Jigsaw long sleeve stripe top or the embroidered ivory cotton blouse also from Whistles.
Britney, Dolly or Kate?
Embroidered and embellished denim is massive for Spring however I’m not sure if floral embroidered jeans are the way to go. More to the point, I’m not sure that rose embroidered jeans represent my best self, the fashion holy grail. If your best self is a cross between Britney Spears and Dolly Parton then that look might be for you? If that self is more Kate Moss if she lived in the real world, had two kids and no childcare then you might prefer something a bit tougher. I’m more a wannabe Kate and prefer something a bit tougher, so will be ordering the black studded skinny jeans from & Other Stories to wear with a delicate pretty blouse, like this floral ruffle wrap blouse from Topshop and maybe these hot pink heels! The hot pink heels would liven up any simple outfit – wowzers!
Cross body bags are also everywhere for Spring. My bag is a bit ‘Mary Poppins’ and basically full of all sorts of crap including a plastic Batman cape, 4 pairs of 3D glasses and various plastic cutlery. A cross body bag is a good way to declutter whilst being ‘on-trend’, bring it on!!! Love this vintage look one from Topshop and it’s only £22!
Highstreet wardrobe updates to cheer us up on our way out of this January gloom.
