It seems Summer has returned to the UK after some unseasonal June rain and cold and hurrah for that! The gorgeous weather we’ve enjoyed for most of lockdown really has made it a bit easier.

Last Monday, 15th June the shops in the UK reopened. I heard that lots of people were keen to get back to it and there were massive queues outside certain shops like Primark and Zara. The big department stores have also opened and all shops are taking precautions to keep customers safe. I have to say I’m not keen to jump on the tube and head into town quite yet. I’ve started filling my diary with clients in September which feels like a more sensible choice. By then, everything should be clearer and the shops will have really got to grips with operating in the new way.

In the meantime, I’m going to be scouring the shops online to find the gems I recommend! Finding the best clothes in the shops to bring you inspiration and make online shopping easier! Shopping for you so you don’t have to.

This week I’m focusing on jumpsuits. I really do love a jumpsuit, I recently bought the blue floral one just below from HUSH and can’t wait to wear it to my friend’s engagement drinks. Some people really struggle with knowing which cut of jumpsuit works with their body shape. My free body shape guide will help with that. In general though, if you’re body is curvy then go for looser styles in soft fabrics to follow the lines of your body. If your body lines are straight then straighter cuts in tailored styles work well. If for example, you are small/straight on top and curvier on the bottom half (a classic pear shape) then something fitted on top and flared/wide legged on the bottom half would work really well. See below for some ideas:

  1. HUSH silk loose jumpsuit. This is the jumpsuit I’ve bought for summer that I haven’t yet had a chance to wear. Some friends got engaged during the lockdown so when they are finally able to have a party I will be wearing this with a big straw hat and strappy heels. As I mentioned above this shape - fitted on the top and flared on the bottom would work on a pear shape. It would also be fine on a smaller hourglass and any straight up and down body shapes.

2. Tailored, fitted jumpsuit with lace insert at the back.

Have you heard of Captain Tortue? It’s a French company that only sells through its consultants. They don’t have a shop or a website and it’s nice to know that hardly anyone will have this jumpsuit.

I’m an hourglass shape and this jumpsuit was really great on my shape, it clings in all the right places. The deep purple is so nice and I felt quite glam hanging out in my garden with nowhere to go in this hahaha. This jumpsuit would work for anyone who likes a smart classy look.

If you want to see the back, jump over to my Instagram where I have lots of outfit ideas.

As you can only buy it via a consultant - here’s my contact, Mary Orr, if you email her, she can get you this gorgeous piece. The jumpsuit is £89.

3. Reiss utility navy jumpsuit.

This is nice and plain for those of you who maybe prefer an understated look. If you haven’t dipped your toe in the jumpsuit water yet then something like this is a good entry level option. This shape would look good on curves but Reiss only go up to a size 14.

This would look great with strappy gold heels and gold earrings for an evening or with trainers at the weekend. Would also be a good smart/casual work option so it’s really versatile.

4. Pretty and casual summer jumpsuit

I’ve recently discovered ‘Faithful the Brand’ it’s a young brand but has lots of things us older gals can wear.😂. They’re an American company with a slightly hippy cool vibe, great for summer!

5. Lots of jumpsuit choices at Whistles! Love this palm print jumpsuit.

If you head to the Whistles website there are tons of gorgeous jumpsuits to choose from and most of them are currently on sale! I love this palm print which will be really striking in the sunshine and suit lots of skin tones.
