The core items you need to get a polished work wardrobe are right here. I’ve scoured the shops so you don’t have to and found the really great investment items that will make you look and feel your best back in the office.

It certainly felt like business as usual this week in London when I travelled into the West End. The tubes and trains were packed and as I waited in a Mayfair Cafe, I noticed people were back in their business attire. What about you? Are you still wearing super casual clothes or are you ready to sharpen your look up at work?

This blog is all about the core investment pieces you need to get s sharper look. If you are working somewhere that is still in jeans and a t-shirt then this week’s blog may not be for you. Try this one instead.

If you are back in the office, or at least some of the time and want that pulled together, slick look, then these are the items that should not be overlooked.

By spending a bit of time making sure you have these items, your whole wardrobe will flow better. Here are the key items to focus on:

  • Spring Coats

  • Great shoes - heels and flats

  • A couple of smart silk or quality cotton blouses

  • Tailored trousers

  • A stylish Tote bag

  • A statement dress - one you pull on for presentations or pitches

Here’s the selection from the shops now. Update your work wardrobe for Spring.

Every office wardrobe needs a smart blazer. Even the more casual environments. It gives that pulled together look.

Burgandy tailored trousers are great for a formal office. Reiss also do a wide leg version.

This pale blue goes really well paired with burgandy. Your work corporate or formal wardrobe doesn’t need to be navy, grey and black all the time. Reiss do great blouses.

Another great place for stylish work blouses is Me&Em

A shirt dress is relaxed yet smart. Reiss do a great selection and in petite sizes too.

A statement dress is great for presentations. This could be made more formal with a black blazer and block heels. Me&Em have brilliant work dresses that are modern and stylish.

Don’t forget the finishing touches! Shoes and bags need to look good and often this is overlooked. I’ve done many a wardrobe edit where people have nice clothes but are carrying around a backpack or a really battered old bag. This can really kill a look so it pays to have great shoes and bags. The devil is in the detail.

This Celine luggage bag is sought after and an investment. This goes with everything.

Kate Spade does a range of colours and it’s always good to add a splash of colour to your outfits.

These ballet flats are stylish for jumping on the tube or your commute to work. LK Bennett does excellent work shoes.

A pair of Chanel block heels are as stylish as it gets. Street Style stars even wear these with cropped jeans and they look so elegant.

A pair of suede beige courts go with everything. These come in tons of other colours so a couple of pairs would be worthwhile.

I hope you enjoyed this month’s edit.
