A Very Sparkly Christmas at Home
I plan to be as festive as ever this Christmas, in sparkles and full of joie de vivre!
After what 2020 has thrown at us, I refuse to lose Christmas and I’m excited about what 2021 will bring.
Obviously, there are far less or in most cases, ZERO social events to attend this year but not wearing something festive at Christmas time is akin to giving up. It’s in line with admitting defeat, that 2020 has well and truly got the better of us and that is NOT gonna happen on my watch.
So settle down, get excited and start planning your festive outfits and let’s end 2020 with a bang. 🎉
Pink Sequins
Silver, black and gold are good too but pink is everywhere this season and I do love pink these days. You could go all out with the shiny pink sequin’s from ASOS or go more muted with the Whistles sequin skirt which is now in the sale.
The best way to style these is low-key, let the skirt do the talking. I would pair mine with either a plain thin grey or black jumper or a chunkier knit, tights and biker boots. Delicate ankle boots would also work really well.

Glam pink sequin skirt with a slouchy knit
I really love this ‘high-low’ way of styling something incredibly glamorous like this pink sequin skirt. Pair it with a slouchy jumper and you feel instantly more appropriate for being at home but still suitably glam.
2. Jumper dresses
A cosy Christmas option, perhaps on Boxing Day when you’re feeling full of turkey and might be traveling to see family. If you were feeling daring then wear this with some metallic boots and statement earrings to jazz it right up. Something I always get asked is what tights to wear - you almost always can’t get it wrong with a pair of barely black sheer tights. They are effectively grey and go with everything.
Cosy jumper dress with split. Would be good with black ankle boots too or really go large with metallic boots.

Metallic gold boots at Schun - would look fab with jeans too.
Or I like this dress with long black boots or tights and ankle boots. The only metallic boots I’d personally pair with this colour is silver because that’s a neutral colour but it would be very festive to wear this with the gold boots if you fancy!
3. Sparkly jacket
I used to think these were a little bit ‘game show host’ and I think in gold it could still be in that territory. Bingo caller also springs to mind so it’s a bit tricky but I’ve found the perfect version.
In gun-metal sequins, this sparkly jacket is super cool and if you are a jeans person then throwing this on even over something simple like a tee shirt will give you an instant, Christmassy, relaxed outfit. Mint Velvet have got a black sequin version but it doesn’t work for me because the sequins are shiny and it just doesn’t look as cool as this more ‘rustic’ version.

4. Glam dress
There have not been any opportunities to wear a dress this year so now’s the time. Rixo London has the most gorgeous dresses at the higher end of the price range and of course, these can be worn again next year at events.
I also really love this red floral dress with a high neck, it’s so striking and feminine. It would so good with chunky boots but if that’s not your thing, go for knee-high boots or the black suede sock boots above.

If you like your legs then these easy shifts at Mint Velvet look really comfy and glam. Wear with either the polka dot tights above, a pair of barely black sheer tights or opaque tights if it’s really cold where you are. Again, the black ankle boots above or some chunky boots would work nicely.

I have these chelsea boots and this is what I’d wear with the above dresses but if you don’t like chunky, go more elegant with block heeled ankle boots.
This Rixo dress is the most expensive on here but it’s a real showstopper. The great thing about it is it would work for loads of events next year too so you should get great cost per wear.
5. Jeans and a nice top
If you are still a jeans girl and all of the above feel a bit much I get it. Jeans and a sparkly top always make me feel comfortable and although it’s a safe option, it’s a good option. Try this top from Whistles for Christmas Day or check out Mint Velvet who have a lot of nice sparkly tops at the moment.

If heels are not an option then these chunky heeled Mary Jane’s at Sezane would be great with jeans and won’t trash your wooden floors.

I hope these ideas for a glam Christmas at home have given you lots of ideas on how to look and feel good during the festive season.
Better days are on the horizon. Until then, stay safe and have a very merry and sparkly Christmas.
