Need some ideas of what to wear to parties this year? I’ve got you covered.

Something I hear a lot is “I don’t want to look too ‘try-hard’ - there’s a desire to look good but a fear of getting it wrong.

Some really simple advice is to look at how you pair things together in an outfit. All outfits are a recipe and a balance of the right ingredients.

For example, if you are wearing the super sparkly silver skirt below or a sequin skirt, ground the look with a plain sweater or a tee shirt to make it a bit more low key. This is often called “high-low” dressing and keeps the outfit a bit more casual. Something casual with something glam usually works.

Anchor a sparkly skirt with a blazer - this always works and keeps you looking smart/

To help a bit more, as well as this blog, I have recorded a special Christmas outfit edition podcast to go with it. We talk through the outfits and what we like to wear on Christmas Day plus our favourite family traditions. Have a listen to the latest episodes here. I was joined for this chat by the lovely Keira from small British accessories brand Scott-Samuel - hope you like the outfits here 🎄

I personally love Christmas and dressing up to the max. If it’s not really your thing, just add one of these sparky bags or sparkly shoes to a plain outfit - maybe jeans and a jumper - and you look (and feel) dressed up!
