Welcome to my choice of summer tee shirts. I’m picking up my blogging after the craziness of the past few weeks. It hasn’t really felt right to say too much as most people have been hunkering down at home during lockdown wearing PJ’s or gym gear. I definitely feel ready for a wardrobe refresh at this point and have started to dress-up a bit more and it does feel nice. I can’t wait for the day I can go and meet friends in a pub again for dinner or drinks wearing an outfit that makes me feel good!

Clothes are an excellent distraction and are something in life that brings joy.

I find myself living in t-shirts more and more these days as our dress codes become less formal and it makes sense to grab something comfy rather than smart. That said, I do not want to look like a wannabe teenager either thank-you so it is a bit of a fine line!

T-shirts are great for that high-low dressing vibe where you don’t want to look too grown-up or too teenager if worn with the right accompaniment! For me, the perfect t-shirt outfit is a tee paired with a big wide feminine skirt, preferably in tulle because I’m a feminine dresser with edge. Fitted tees also look great worn with wide legged trousers or pleated satin skirts.

So now, here is my grown-up selection of great t-shirts available now to get ready for summer.

  1. First up is this grey mixed with gold stripe from Hush. Grey goes with everything and the metallic stripe adds a little bit of glam to an otherwise super casual tee.

2. Slogan tees are a fun addition to the wardrobe and you can find all sorts out there. ‘LOVE’ has been a big feature on t-shirts and I’m a bit over that if I’m honest, you can hunt around and find the one that fits your style or values even! I’ve got a few more ideas further down but these are cute from Sezane. I’d have to get the one on the left - the stork failed to bring me any girls. 😢. Boys are gorgeous though and I love being a Mum to boys.

3. If you like a smarter look then this pretty tee from Whistles is really cute. I love the broderie anglais sleeves and this would look great paired with denim.

4. Sticking with the classic theme, this Bretton stripe tee again from Whistles is a good wardrobe basic. In my experience Whistles t-shirts are great quality and very nicely fitted. I like the cap sleeves too, they look more grown-up.

5. Back to Hush again. HUSH really are the kings of relaxed but stylish casual wear in my opinion. Their signature print is stars and you’ll find that on loads of their tee shirts, tops and trousers in metallic or often velvet. I’ve gone for this t-shirt because I love the retro look of it. It’s not that fitted so I would go down a size - I’m a size 10 and I had to send the small back and get XS.

6. I’m a huge fan of Bella Freud but her tee shirts and now cult designs are really top end. She did a collaboration with War Child and this Peace and Love tee shirt is only £25 and every penny goes to the charity that helps children deal with the trauma of war. War Child also collaborated with other designers including Vivienne Westwood and Henry Holland to create a range of t-shirts, all for £25 with all proceeds for the charity.

7. Finally, another really good place for tees and fr tops in general in Anthroplogie. They’ve got something for everyone! I love this cheery yellow ‘Feeling Good’ t-shirt. We all need a bit of cheering up right now and I think this hits the spot nicely.

T-shirts are a wardrobe essential if you like that relaxed look. I prefer to wear mine with more dressy items like satin skirts so I get to wear something glam but don’t look like I’ve tried too hard.

Hope you are all safe and well. xx
