Stylish Flat Shoes for Work
It’s not easy wearing heels full stop never mind when you get past 40. Alas, many of us feel stumpy and dowdy when wearing flat shoes but trainers in the office are not always appropriate. So what should you wear?
Well, luckily there are many stylish options out there that are going to work for whatever office environment you work in, or for your particular style type.
Just a few words on style types, this is relevant because if you are a preppy or classic style type, you will happily don a pair of brogues or loafers but the more edgy or feminine dressers amongst us wouldn’t feel right wearing those. Personally, I’m more of a ballet flat, or sparkly gem encrusted flat shoe kind of gal. Not for everyone I know but this is why considering your personal style is important. If you want help with that - do my mini quick course and get all the style tools you need to work this out.
Back to the flat shoe edit. I have covered all styles and written style notes under each pair and explained why I love them. All you need to do is click on the board below and shop directly from there.
As I write this, the shops are flooded with loafers with a very chunky sole. I am a huge fan and because the chunky sole element feels to me like the loafer has a bit more edge - I’m on board! For those of you who prefer a more low-key or ‘grown-up’ vibe with your footwear, I have included some more classic loafers in the edit too.
Something else that is having a current renaissance is the ballet flat. Remember Kate Moss in the late 90’s/early ‘00’s in her ballet flats? Well fashion-wise there is a 90’s revival going on so I think this move back to the ballet flats must be a part of that.
All these shoes are in the shops now - Autumn/Winter 2021/22. I hope you find something you like here.
